1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using RoadApp-JA, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. What the service is
RoadApp-JA is a personal record-keeping and reminder tool for Jamaican vehicle owners. It lets you store details of your vehicle's Registration, Fitness, and Insurance documents, attempts to automatically read details from photos of those documents, and sends reminder notifications as expiry dates approach.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, since the app involves storing identity and financial-adjacent documents.
4. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that happens under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and adding vehicles.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload documents that aren't genuinely yours, or that are forged or fraudulent.
- Use the app to impersonate another person or vehicle owner.
- Attempt to access another user's account or data.
- Use the app in any way that violates Jamaican law.
6. Important disclaimers
RoadApp-JA is a personal convenience tool only. It does not replace, and is not a substitute for, your own legal responsibility to keep your vehicle's registration, fitness, and insurance current under Jamaican law. You remain solely responsible for knowing and meeting your renewal obligations, whether or not the app reminds you.
We schedule reminder notifications on your device, but we cannot guarantee they will actually reach you. Phone settings, battery-optimization features, notification permissions, app updates, connectivity, or the app being uninstalled can all prevent a reminder from arriving. Do not rely on the app as your only method of tracking expiry dates.
Text automatically read from your document photos is provided as a convenience and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting every field before saving it.
Renewal links to the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) website or to insurance companies take you to third-party websites we don't own, control, or operate. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or accuracy.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Jamaican law: we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage — including fines, penalties, impoundment costs, or loss of use of your vehicle — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, from a missed or undelivered notification, or from inaccurate auto-read document data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid to use it, which is currently zero, as the app is provided free of charge.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the app's operator from any claim arising from your misuse of the app or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and notify you within the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
